:no:Why was Mahonri Swalger, the Samoan Rugby World Cup captain dropped from the Samoan team this year, 2012. A number of other RWC players have also been dropped from the team. The team Management claims Mahonri is too old, but the Chiefs Super 15 hooker is playing some of the best rugby of his career.
Or is there some darker, deeper reason for the axing of Mahonri Swalger, who has previously played for the Highlanders Super 15 team based in Dunedin, and also for the Avalon club in the Wellington competition some years ago? He is also a cousin of former All Blacks prop John Swalger.
Mahonri wrote a report on the Samoan WRC squad which allegedly accused Samoan management of corruption during the Rugby World Cup campaign last year, 2011. Another claim involved the sale of team gear to persons unknown. Other players who have also been dropped may have confirmed Swalger's claims.
