The 1913 Great Strike in NZ – class war a 100 years ago – its centenary this year coincides with Labour Day
Labour Weekend this year coincides with the centenary of the early stages of one of the largest and most violent strikes in New Zealand’s history. TheGreat Strike of 1913 has been described by historian Peter Clayworth as ‘the closest we have come to a Pakeha Civil War’.
