Outgoing Chiefs chief executive Gary Dawson is joining the ranks of those calling for a more global rugby calendar.
Dawson will step down at the end of the Super Rugby season, which is his 14th with the franchise.
He says until the entire rugby schedule is sorted out, it is impossible to hold a meaningful competition.
"This June window that we have at the moment where virtually Super Rugby stops for four or five weeks, to me is not the optimum way to be running a competition but it's all that we have to work with."
Dawson says more afternoon matches are needed to get people to games, which is the other big challenge they face.
