Welcome to the Avalon Rugby Football Club Website
All touch is cancelled Wednesday 5th December 2012
Avalon Rugby Football Club goals are to:
- Create a winning/supportive environment that players, their family and their friends are proud of and want to be part of.
- Develop all players, coaches and administrators so that they can reach their true potential. - Keep the talent within the Avalon catchment area (Taita, Naenae, Avalon) at Avalon - Create awareness within the local community that Avalon is a club that has a place for everyone, whether it be playing, coaching, administrating or as a supporter. Over the past two years the Avalon club has very much been in a growth phase, investing a lot of time and effort in the junior/youth section not just within the club but within the whole local community. As a direct result of this the club managed to field 2 Colts teams in the 2012 season, of which both teams made the semi finals, with one team narrowly loosing the grand final 19-18. A number of these players had just left school and their youth and enthusiasm has been a true asset to the club and the club’s future. A large number of these players have stepped up to the top team and have done themselves proud, gaining the experience that they will need to step up on a more regularly basis in 2013. The club has worked hard to form strong alliances with the local secondary schools by providing training resources and the hosting of the traditional college clash between Naenae and Taita who play for the Avalon Cup. The club recognises the importance of nurturing junior players and the Avalon Cup is just one of the keys in achieving this. As a result of this a number of players from the local schools have already indicated that they will be playing for Avalon in 2013. The club’s focus is to get back its premier status and to do this the club has set some specific goals, one of which is to win the Hardham Cup in 2013. To achieve this goal the club is in the process of introducing strategies to address player retention, player recruitment and sponsorship. We are also looking at advertising for coaching and management staff for 2013 and are putting in place a summer fitness plan to ensure all players have every chance to hit the ground running at the start of the 2013 season. With the advent of the 2013 season, the club is looking to have teams in senior 1sts, senior 2nd's, senior 3rd's, 80/80's, president's, colts and under 19’s. We also have a thriving junior section where many of our players from our 11's, 12’s and 13's have gone on to represent Hutt Valley and Wellington. |
